Read: Job 23-24
I feel like all of Job could have just been a short email. Haha no, but really, it feels a little as if we are going in circles. The one thing that stands out in all of the repetition though is Job’s faithfulness. His faithfulness did waiver, but it did not break! He trusted God and His plans. He knew his own heart and the truth, and he was not letting that be swayed by the uncertainty or the voices around him.
Job believed that God would answer him, that He would be fair, and that something good would come from his circumstances. But even if it didn’t, he would still choose faith. Not just trusting God when things work out but trusting Him even when they do not.
“…he knows the way that I take…” -Job 23:10
There are parts of God that are simply beyond our understanding. God is powerful and sovereign, and we are not. Job did not fully understand what was happening, and neither did his friends. Only God did.
In chapter 24, Job was challenging the way that his friends were thinking. They believed that God always punished wrongdoing immediately and rewarded righteousness right away. Job pointed out that that is not always what we see. If that were the case, then why are there people who do wrong and seem to get away with it? Why is justice not always immediate?
That really shifts perspective, because it reminds us of God’s mercy. If God dealt with us exactly as our sins deserved, none of us would still be standing. We would all fall short instantly. Even if we got multiple chances like Little Bunny FooFoo, we should still fall short and repeat in our sinful nature. We saw it in the Israelites, for example, and we see it in our own world today. How often do you expect quick justice for others but want grace for yourself? God is not unfair, He is patient. He sees everything, even when we do not.
As a mom, this is something I want my kids to understand early. That God is not someone to fear in a harsh or confusing way, but someone to trust, even when things do not make sense. I want them to see faith lived out in the waiting, in the unknown, and in the hard seasons. Not just when everything is going well. Real faith is not built when everything is easy. It is built when we choose to trust God anyway.

A Note from the Author
Hello everyone,
I wanted to take a moment to share a bit about the Bible verse studies, devotionals, and prayers that I put together. While I strive to offer meaningful insights and reflections, it’s important to clarify that I am not a trained or licensed biblical professional. My goal is not to provide expert theological advice but to share my personal knowledge, beliefs, and experiences as I read and reflect on the Holy Bible.
The insights I offer come from my own understanding and spiritual journey. I approach these reflections with the intention of sharing what personally resonates with me, what I’ve learned through my own study of Scripture, and what the Holy Spirit is sharing through me. I hope these thoughts are helpful and encouraging, but they are based on my personal perspective rather than formal theological training.
This specific Bible study is based off the book A Beautiful Year in the Bible The 52-Week Bible Study for Women by a series of wonderful authors Copyrighted by Alabaster Creative Inc. I do not own the rights to this book and am not claiming to. I am using the book to create my own version of the Bible in 365 days and continue to direct God’s word towards women, more specifically mothers.
Thank you for your understanding and for joining me in this journey of faith and reflection.
Blessings,
Maria Wilcoxon
