Year in the Bible Week 1 Day 2: We Belong to Christ Jesus

Read: Romans 1–2

“And you are among those Gentiles who are called to belong to Jesus Christ.”
— Romans 1:6

The Apostle Paul wrote Romans to explain the gospel clearly: that all people are made right with God through faith in Jesus Christ. Paul’s mission was to bring this truth to everyone so that our faith would encourage one another and grow.

I’ve always wanted to read the whole Bible, not just skim words or read sections, but truly absorb it and learn from it. That discipline can be hard, especially now in motherhood with my two little ones, work endeavors, and a firefighter husband starting paramedic school. Still, God comes first, and I want to model that for my children and family. So, 2026 will be the year I read through the entire Bible alongside you.

“That you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith.”
— Romans 1:12

If we do not fill ourselves with God, evil will take over. We must persistently seek to glorify Him and live by the Holy Spirit. As Christians, we are role models to those around us; and yes, that can feel heavy. I’m far from perfect. I make mistakes and still fall short, continuously. But God. Wait. Stop. BUT GOD. Our mighty Lord already knows our shortcomings and has sent His Son to cover our multitude of sins. That is not a “get out of jail free card,” but it is peace. So have peace in knowing that you, we, are deeply loved.

From that place of love, we can extend grace to others and to ourselves. We are not to ignore sin. Do not get that confused. So, work on continually striving to grow and live in a way that pleases the Lord; I will continue to try!

When you are in relationship with God, the Holy Spirit lives in and through you. You have a new identity in Christ Jesus. I really love this video from Sadie Robertson that helps explain and communicate that idea. The IG Short is the main idea, and the YT video expounds upon it. The IG Short is taken from the full YT video.

A Note from the Author

Hello everyone,
I wanted to take a moment to share a bit about the Bible verse studies, devotionals, and prayers that I put together. While I strive to offer meaningful insights and reflections, it’s important to clarify that I am not a trained or licensed biblical professional. My goal is not to provide expert theological advice but to share my personal knowledge, beliefs, and experiences as I read and reflect on the Holy Bible.

The insights I offer come from my own understanding and spiritual journey. I approach these reflections with the intention of sharing what personally resonates with me and what I’ve learned through my own study of Scripture. I hope these thoughts are helpful and encouraging, but they are based on my personal perspective rather than formal theological training.

This specific Bible study is based off the book A Beautiful Year in the Bible The 52-Week Bible Study for Women by a series of wonderful authors Copyrighted by Alabaster Creative Inc. I do not own the rights to this book and am not claiming to. I am using the book to create my own version of the Bible in 365 days and continue to direct God’s word towards women, more specifically mothers.

Thank you for your understanding and for joining me in this journey of faith and reflection.

Blessings,

Maria Wilcoxon
