Year in the Bible Week 5 Day 6 (34): Patient Faith

Read: Isaiah 23-28

Sometimes I focus on the entire passage and other times I highlight verses, sections, or themes that stand out to me the most. If you have a preference or feedback, please comment below in the Leave a Reply section. That is also a great place to answer the discussion questions included at the end of each Bible study. Thank you for being here and for spending time in God’s Word.

Part of today’s reading in Isaiah 23–28 required me to slow down and reread sections multiple times. I found it difficult to stay focused, but as I read, a few verses stood out to me.

Isaiah proclaims:

“Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name.” -Isaiah 25:1

This verse is a reminder to lift our eyes back to who God is, even when the surrounding chapters feel heavy or difficult to process.

Another verse that stood out to me was:

“In that day the people will proclaim, ‘This is our God! We trusted in him, and he saved us! This is the LORD, in whom we trusted. Let us rejoice in the salvation he brings!’” -Isaiah 25:9

This verse carries such hope and joy, especially when we remember the context. There is excitement and relief here, but also something deeper, a testimony of patient faith. Waiting is not passive; it is active trust.

I gained a lot of insight specifically on Isaiah 25:9 from Christianity Path. It explains how the joy we read about is rooted not in circumstances, but in the character of God as Savior. The Israelites were often waiting for deliverance from oppression and hardship, and this verse speaks directly to that longing. Even today, we find ourselves waiting, maybe sometimes feeling stuck, discouraged, or unsure of what God is doing. Isaiah reminds us that salvation and joy are worth waiting for because God is faithful to His promises.

Another verse that I highlighted was:

“Lord, you establish peace for us; all that we have accomplished you have done for us.” -Isaiah 26:12

This verse gently shifts the focus from what we think we have achieved to the truth that everything good in our lives ultimately comes from God. It brings peace because it releases the pressure to control outcomes and timelines.

Waiting is difficult in every part of life. I’ve waited for my husband, waited to expand our family, waited to build our home … well, still waiting haha. Often, my wants come before what God has planned for me, and it can be challenging to set my own desires aside and fully welcome His plan. Shortcuts can feel tempting, but shortcuts are not God. His timing may feel slow at times, but it is always intentional and perfect.

The Lord will return when He is ready, and we should be grateful that that day has not yet come. There are still so many people who need to hear the Gospel. Until then, we are called to do our part; to plant seeds in the hearts of unbelievers, to raise our children in the way they should go, and to live in a way that points others to Christ. May we be faithful in the waiting, trusting that God is always at work, even when we cannot yet see it or understand it.

A Note from the Author

Hello everyone,
I wanted to take a moment to share a bit about the Bible verse studies, devotionals, and prayers that I put together. While I strive to offer meaningful insights and reflections, it’s important to clarify that I am not a trained or licensed biblical professional. My goal is not to provide expert theological advice but to share my personal knowledge, beliefs, and experiences as I read and reflect on the Holy Bible.

The insights I offer come from my own understanding and spiritual journey. I approach these reflections with the intention of sharing what personally resonates with me, what I’ve learned through my own study of Scripture, and what the Holy Spirit is sharing through me. I hope these thoughts are helpful and encouraging, but they are based on my personal perspective rather than formal theological training.

This specific Bible study is based off the book A Beautiful Year in the Bible The 52-Week Bible Study for Women by a series of wonderful authors Copyrighted by Alabaster Creative Inc. I do not own the rights to this book and am not claiming to. I am using the book to create my own version of the Bible in 365 days and continue to direct God’s word towards women, more specifically mothers.

Thank you for your understanding and for joining me in this journey of faith and reflection.

Blessings,

Maria Wilcoxon
