Read: Jeremiah 22-26
Today’s reading is Jeremiah 22–26, and the main theme running through these chapters is clear: God is calling His people to listen, repent, and respond before judgment comes. Through Jeremiah, the Lord keeps warning His people again and again, but they continue refusing to hear Him. It is a strong reminder that hearing truth and responding to truth are not always the same thing.
“And though the Lord has sent all his servants the prophets to you again and again, you have not listened or paid any attention.” -Jeremiah 25:4
God was not silent. He kept sending messengers, warnings, and opportunities to turn back, but the people ignored Him. We see this same idea throughout Scripture when people are told to hear, listen, and understand. God desires hearts that are responsive, not stubborn.
That is why being urgent in faith matters. We cannot assume that we will always have another day to repent, another chance to obey, or another opportunity to get serious about our relationship with God. Delayed obedience is still disobedience. I use that idea when parenting my toddler as well (but yes, I know he is only 3).
These chapters also show how much spiritual leadership matters. The priests, prophets, and leaders were influencing the people, and many were speaking falsely. If someone claims to speak for God but is not rooted in His truth and word, that becomes dangerous very quickly. The voices that we listen to matter. Are you reading scripture from the Holy Bible? Or listening to a video on TikTok? We need leaders who teach God’s Word faithfully, not people who simply say what sounds good.
Jeremiah also shows us that speaking truth can come with challenges. In chapter 26, Jeremiah is threatened because people do not like hearing correction or warnings of judgment. That still happens today. Think of today’s missionaries for example. Many people welcome comforting words but resist convicting truth. Yet truth spoken in love is still necessary.
Should we be weary of warnings? Absolutely! But in the midst of that, God gives us hope. In chapter 23, the people had hope in the coming Messiah.
“‘The days are coming,’ declares the Lord, ‘when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch, a King who will reign wisely and do what is just and right in the land… This is the name by which he will be called: The Lord Our Righteous Savior.’” -Jeremiah 23:5–6
This points to Jesus, the true King who brings righteousness that we could never earn on our own.
“My eyes will watch over them for their good … I will give them a heart to know me, that I am the Lord. They will be my people, and I will be their God, for they will return to me with all their heart.” -Jeremiah 24:6–7
That is the heart of God. Even in judgment, He desires restoration. Even after rebellion, He invites return. He does not just want outward behavior to change; He wants hearts that truly know and love Him.

A Note from the Author
Hello everyone,
I wanted to take a moment to share a bit about the Bible verse studies, devotionals, and prayers that I put together. While I strive to offer meaningful insights and reflections, it’s important to clarify that I am not a trained or licensed biblical professional. My goal is not to provide expert theological advice but to share my personal knowledge, beliefs, and experiences as I read and reflect on the Holy Bible.
The insights I offer come from my own understanding and spiritual journey. I approach these reflections with the intention of sharing what personally resonates with me, what I’ve learned through my own study of Scripture, and what the Holy Spirit is sharing through me. I hope these thoughts are helpful and encouraging, but they are based on my personal perspective rather than formal theological training.
This specific Bible study is based off the book A Beautiful Year in the Bible The 52-Week Bible Study for Women by a series of wonderful authors Copyrighted by Alabaster Creative Inc. I do not own the rights to this book and am not claiming to. I am using the book to create my own version of the Bible in 365 days and continue to direct God’s word towards women, more specifically mothers.
Thank you for your understanding and for joining me in this journey of faith and reflection.
Blessings,
Maria Wilcoxon
